CODE OF CONDUCT FOR WSTEM CREW MEMBERS
1) WSTEM members are leaders. Your behavior should be exemplary in and out of class, because you are the face of the STEM Academy. By being on the news, you become a community and school-wide public figure. Behavior infractions that occur on any part of the campus, or on the bus can affect your privilege of being featured on the news. You are expected to be a role model where ever you go!
2) WSTEM members are expected to be self-directed learners. This course is considered to be a blended course, and all information won't be presented to you in an "in class lecture". Some materials and information may require you view tutorial videos outside of class. This especially applies to video editing positions. Editing is a skill that is finessed through reading, watching tutorial videos, and hours of practice. If you fall behind on the anchor activities and assignments that are requirements of this class, you will be required to finish these and will not be allowed to participate in news production activities.
3) This is your job and you will receive a grade. You will be expected to do what is asked of you each day, as your tasks and roles are part of a bigger picture. I understand that each of you are coming from different backgrounds with varying experience. All I ask is that you do each task to the best of your ability. You will self-assess your tasks and missions and your grade will be determined based upon what you can tell me you learned.
4) You will take a pledge at the end of the 9 weeks once we have covered copyright, ethics, and technical skills important to video production and reporting. The pledge can be found here. TAO OF JOURNALISM
