Flipped lecture on StopMotion animation
Watch this video to get a background of stopmotion and learn about important elements and vocabulary on the topic. You will have a quiz available to take beginning Monday-Friday of next week. I will post the quiz code here.
Claymation of local Book:
We are going to be creating an animation of local book, "Captain Savannah and the St. Patrick's Day Mystery," using claymation, Dragon Frame 3, and a Canon T5. There are many jobs that go into a production of this nature. You will need to review the jobs below and decide which one you are interested in! You will have the option to change jobs during this production so everyone gets to experience all parts of the claymation production process. I will need multiple people for all jobs.
1)Set designer
2)Voice over/narrator
3)Claymation/sculptor (multiple figures in motion)
4)Digital image printer(take images from book and print on large scale)
5)Facial expressions/animation
6)Lighting
7)Puppetry/movement of characters
8)Photographer
9)Editor/Dragon Frame 3
2. Once you have picked a job, you should begin brainstorming as a class answering the question "How can I fulfill that role?". What supplies do you need to help make that happen? Make a list. Write down your ideas on how to execute your part of the claymation. Now consult with other groups! When you are done, submit your ideas and materials needed below in the contact form. Use your whiteboard area to brainstorm. We are only working with the first few pages. When trying to determine how to perform in your job, look up videos as a reference. For example, if you are going to be editing in Dragon Frame 3, you will need to know how to use the software. You should begin watching tutorials to prepare for the daunting task that is ahead! And remember...the nature of stopmotion is tedious. Be patient, break down the project into pages, and review your work to get a sense of progress.
Tasks:
3. Audition: The narrator/voice over is an audition role. You will need to do your best reading for me, and we will vote as a class who will get this particular job!
